Anyone else think Macbeth is going really crazy?

AustinW2012 said...

yes, most likely with guilt.

BayleyK said...

ya, you think he'll kill himself eventually?

AustinW2012 said...

maybe, it is a tragedy.

BernardoT2012 said...

if he doesn't kill himself, Fleance will do it for him.

ericak2012 said...

Ha, ya, prolly Bayley!
But I wonder if he might decide not to because he is feeling guilty over it and so he wants to live out the guilt, to torture himself further, or he might kill himself to have done to him what he did.

BayleyK said...

Erica- I think he'll just kill himself. But Bernardo is right. Someone else might kill him.

btw, the blood thing is right. Macbeth didn't even think twice about murdering his best friend. Does that mean something about whats going on inside his head?

The more he kills the easier it gets.

Maybe he won't kill himself, but become addicted to killing others...possibly someone else will kill him eventually.

ericak2012 said...

But what if he runs out of people to kill? The last person to kill would be himself...

I'm just putting ideas out there, what do you think about the killing sitchuation?

Why does Macbeth see Banquo as a ghost? Why not Duncan? He killed the king to get power, and he killed Banquo to keep power. So why does Banquo haunt him? plus Duncan he killed himself, Banquo he was a third party.

why does Hecate rhyme all the time? Why do they want to set illusions for Macbeth? Will the witches affect anyone else?

ericak2012 said...

The witches prolly will affect someone else eventually, they seem like they want to feed the fire.

I wonder if England's army is bigger or Scotland's. Also, what if the lords rebelled against Macbeth like against Duncan in the beginning of the book?

BayleyK said...

Bernardo-
I think Banquo came back because he was Macbeths friend. They were tight (like spandex)

I think that Hecate is just mad at her witches for manipulating Macbeth and wants to rid herself of that fact. Therefore, kill Macbeth.

ericak2012 said...

Hmmm...good point Austin, what does happen if they rebel against him?

ericak2012 said...

Do you think that possibly they could be the people that kill him? Before he has a chance to kill himself?

BayleyK said...

Austin, england was more of a power so the army was probably bigger. Good point I don't think that he could kill all the lords...

AustinW2012 said...

So maybe before Malcolm can take out Macbeth the lords will do it.

Bernardo – Macbeth wasn’t friends with Duncan. It’s different to kill a friend rather than someone you just need to get out of the way. Banquo haunts him because he feels more guilt towards getting his best friend out of the way. Also, maybe he feels guilt for killing Duncan and both murders come back just as Banquo to make him feel even worse.

Austin- sure I think someone else might kill him. For sure, he's making more enemies than friends.

AustinW2012 said...

Duncan was his cousin though. That's just as bad as a friend.

BayleyK said...

Austin but Duncan wasn't very tight with MAcbeth

chelseac2012 said...

That's a good point. But then again, some people may not be very close to their cousins. Maybe Duncan and Macbeth didn't really like each other very much.

AustinW2012 said...

True but even if you aren't close to your family it still would be incredibly hard to kill them.

chelseac2012 said...

Maybe not for Macbeth.

AustinW2012 said...

I guess it's different if you don't think twice about gutting a rebel or enemy. It ties back to the more he kills the easier it is.

BernardoT2012 said...

looks like we found a good issue. By the way Bayley, thanks for the Spandex image, it got your point across to say the least.

I think that both would be hard to kill. Banquo because they're friends. Duncan would be hard to kill because Macbeth just won Duncan a war, he obviously loyal to some degree. He was changed by the witches to suddenly turn to treason after becoming a war hero.

Maybe Macbeth is such a crazy guy and really doesn't care at all about killing his family. I kind of think he is going to eventually kill himself with all this guilt but who knows?

chelseac2012 said...

My vote is he will either go insane with guilt and kill himself or someone kill him before he has the chance.

Bernardo-

I think that Banquo came back and not Duncan because Banquo was killed for pretty much no reason. The witches fortold that Macbeth would become king and so that made it a necessity for Duncan to die in order for Macbeth to become king. Banquo was told, on the other hand, that his KIDS would become king. That means only Fleance needed to die (And now that he's still alive, by the way, is probably going to come back and bite Macbeth). Banquo was killed because he knew of the prophecy, but he ould have lived with that knowledge.

And by the way- Who is Hectate? I remember Ms Smith said she was the witches queen but I don't really get that.

Thanks

John

I agree with chelseac that Macbeth will either go insane with guilt and kill himself or someone else will kill him before he has a chance to.

BernardoT2012 said...

John- Hecate is the witches Queen just like Ms. Smitty said. Think of the witches as a secret society. Hecate would be the ring leader who sends her minions to do her dirty work. Hecate is the one who sets the plan for the whole group.

sammiet2012 said...

Katie- I would have to say that Macbeth is actually concerned when it comes to killing his family but he is becoming addicted to it just like Ms. S said cereal killer do. My prediction though is that Macbeth ends up killing even more people or at least trying to because he is becoming addicted to it.
