I thought that yesterday's fishbowl was pretty well done. At the end we started making plans to talk to the school board about some changes we would like to see in the education system. I am not sure how this came up in symphony and why we were inspired to do that yesterday. I think that changing aspects of the world is good and not only in education. But I think that if we actually try to change something and not just talk the talk, then it was an extremely successful fishbowl.

I think the fishbowl started off fairly slow. Smith said go and for a second there was silence. But as the conversation picked up in the inner circle, it got interesting. Everyone had great insight and people came prepared to ask and answer questions and to discuss the matter of symphony, which also allowed me a better understanding of the sense.
I also think the outer circle did a good job. Sometimes we strayed from the topic, but I think Kelly Dignan, who strongly believed in metaphors for symphony, and Bud Hud helped us stay in line. Everyone seemed to have a point of view, and everyone seemed to state it at some point.
I'm excited to be in the inner circle for the next fishbowl for empathy. Hopefully everyone will come with questions and answers as we've been working on (and doing great with) recently.

I think yesterday’s fisch-bowl went very well. There were a lot of different topics going on and all of them were very rich with insight. I don’t think that we had a whole lot of down time in terms of conversation. The one thing that disappointed me was that the inner circle was a little fast. I went into the inner circle to discuss a certain topic, next thing I know there’s something completely different going on in the inner circle. It was hard to shift gears from blogging to a high paced discussion. I think our two guests enjoyed it very much, and they helped the conversation move along as well. Many Thanks to them. I still think that we should try and experiment with some of these senses as a class, although we may have to do it after-school.

This was really a great fishbowl. There were a few little comments that I wanted to say, but I didn't think that they were worth walking in for. The outer circle was on a complete other topic, so my comments went unsaid. This brings me to question the very nature of the fishbowl- is the inner circle supposed to be the main conversation with the outer circle fluttering around it? Or are they supposed to be two truly seperate conversations? This really confuses me, so I would love feedback on that.

I'm not going to say that our fishbowl was off topic, but we spent a lot of time ranting off on tangents. Often, It took me a minute to figure out what we were actually supposed to be talking about. We didn't spend a lot of time arguing about pointless and unrelated details, but a large amount of time was spent on other importaint topics.

I thought the fishbowl yesterday went well. Toward the end of the class we started talking about how we could talk to the school board and get them to change classroom design. I don't remember how we got started on the discussion but it was a good discussion if we actually plan to change something. If we don't actually plan on changing something by talking to the school board the discussion was pointless. Otherwise I think it was one of our better fishbowls.

This fishbowl on symphony was, I think, one of the best ones we've had. It started off a little slow, but it quickly picked up speed. I like how by the end we were relating symphony to classroom design to changing the world. It was cool how we talked about the school board getting involved and how we could relate symphony to ideas outside of AWNM. The last ten minutes were fast paced and exciting with everyone just throwing ideas out there.

Out of all the fishbowls this year I would rank this one second right behind Design with Mr. Pink. On a personal level it was fantastic because those who know me in class can tell you that I hardly ever speak. In the inner circle yesterday I was a different person because I spoke as much as I possibly could and made sure my point got across. I am very happy with my preformance in this fishbowl. At a class level we were very good. As I said before I think it was second best behind the fishbowl with Mr. Pink. The thought process was deep and I could tell everyone was thinking very hard and trying to put up everything they could because there were a few silences in the inner circle where you could look at people's faces and see how deep in thought we all were. Then someone would bring forward a point and things would heat up to a point where nobody had an answer then repeat the process. Normally silences are bad but in this case it shows how hard we were all working to get to points where none of us knew what to say. Trust me, we didn't have the silences for lack of trying. I did not manage to look at the outer cirle to often but from what I saw they were having equally thought provoking conversation. From my perspective this fishbowl was our second best and I hope to see progress to set a new record in the near future.

I thought that the fishbowl went really well. As most every time, it started off pretty slow but when we got into it after a while. Everyone had some kind of really good input at one time or another. There were very good questions as well as some fantastic discussions. At the end we decided to talk to the school board to discuss changing the way we learn. We have not come up with a true game plan yet but we are hoping to really try to change our education. Great fischbowl everyone!

Wow, the fishbowl was really amazing this time. I spent some time on the outer circle. We had a really interesting converastion about America and connecting the different subjects in school. But towards the end I jumped into the inner circle. We talked about actually taking charge of our education. I won't be suprised when we get the board of education in here so that we can discuss our education. I think that I came into this fishbowl very prepared. I had read and re-read the chapter on symphony, and came with a list of questions I wanted to ask the class. It was a really amazing fishbowl.

Yesterday's fishbowl went well. I think that Symphony is one of the hardest senses to discuss because it is laid out in such depth in A Whole New Mind. However, we were able to take what has already been laid out and apply it to life as well as taking it further. We discussed taking the design of the school to the school baoard towards the end as well. I'm not qutie sure how that came up during the conversation, but I just wanted to add one point. I almost feel like we can change the design of the classroom to be more personal by adding our own creations like the inspiration boards. That would eliminate the need for a full scale remodel, somthing the school district might not have the funds or the ability to do. So maybe if we started on a smaller scale, we could take steps towards actually changing the world. Think about it.

Alright, my real post is under the other post 'Reflection on Symphony'. I just want everyone posting here to know that I have set up a post on Smith's blog for ideas for changing our education. ~Read it for more info!~

Well yesterdays fishbowl was good I guess but I think we always talk about unrealistic things. I mean the school board idea is fantastic and I think that we should completely have a discussion with them but not in a fishbowl style format. I think even though the discussion style is a good way of diving into the meaning of things i don't think it would get the job done here. Something perhaps a little bit better could be perhaps a presentation or maybe a speech or discussion. Now some ideas i think that are almost irrelevant are how classroom design could really affect how we learn. In the real world rooms are as bland as this one we sit in everyday. If we are unable to function properly in a room like this now then how will we every be able to give a presentation in a conference room, or be able to design a movie in a cubicle. I think that sometimes we need to refocus what we have to say and that more serious topics that will affect our future can be explored.
