I think the fishbowl went really well yesterday, we got to talking about lots of different, interesting things. Story is my favorite of the five senses, so it was especially interesting for me. The only problem was, just like last time, we keep talking about the same things over and over and have a hard time moving from topic to topic. I would say it was better than last time, but we can still work on getting better about changing topics when needed
I think the Fishbowl on Story went quite well yesterday. We stayed on topic for most of the time and very thoughtful, meaningful comments in both the inner and outer circle. There was an occasion where inappropriate comments were made but was corrected. It was a fishbowl where I actually learned something instead of repeating things that I have read or learned from the book. It was very enjoyable and I thought it was great.
I thought that the fishbowl yesterday was not bad. It was certainly not our best but it was alright. The conversation often seemed to float to our political opinion, on the blog at least. I think it was because we were all excited over Obama becoming president. The conversation I found a little boring and shallow at times but it can't all be amazing. Overall I think it went well.
Over all I think that the fishbowl went pretty good. We focussed a little too much on movies, and I wanted to see more people from the outer circle come to the inner circle. We brought up some good points, like what makes a good story and trying to understand if story made us human, but I think that we could have done a little bit better. Also, there were a couple key people in the inner circle who talked but over all the majority was pretty quiet.
thanks guys!
The fischbowl yesterday did a really good job on the blog and the inner circle. Though some topics were repeated in the inner circle, I also think that some new topics were brought up each time. The live blog was sometimes hard to follow because there were a lot of things that people wanted to say, and after awhile some questions and comments were skipped or forgotten about. After awhile though, I really think that people got into really good topics and both the inner circle and outer circle did a great job.
I liked the fishbowl yesterday because it was more short and consice or right to the point than the design blog, it was also surronding a topic with more intereting details, I especially liked the comments regarding the connections between empathy and story
I thought our fishbowl on story was good, but in small spurts. There would be a really good big idea brought up, and it left some of us stumped, or we just couldn't elaborate on it. It seemed kind of repetitive. This was definitely one of the more challenging fishbowls for me, I felt like there wasn't as much to talk about for some reason. It definitely didn't knock my socks off. Also, there were a few main people that kind of took control of the inner circle because it didn't seem like others had much to say.
I thought that the blog was not one of the best. In the outer circle, I noticed that nobody really talked about the bigger, more important aspects of the idea of story. And whenever someone tried to change the subject again to get back to the key aspects, nobody really answered their questions and they just kept talking about the same things. So for the future, everyone needs to pay attention to what other people are saying and not just look for their names in the responses. I also listened to what the inner circle was talking about and I noticed that a few people were dominating the conversation. So overall, I don't think that this fishbowl was very good and we can defiantly do better in the future.
The fishbowl yesterday was alright. I wasn't watching the blog conversation but I was in the inner circle and I was disappointed in some ways. More people did get up to be in the inner circle but it was the same few people who kept getting up. I would have like to have seen different/more people come into the inner circle. Also I think the conversation in the inner circle lacked the big picture ideas. It was better than past fishbowls and we tended to stay on topic more, but there were times when we repeated ourselves. Also I think the presenters could have been more prepared. There were times where we just sat there waiting for someone to talk. In addition I feel that more people could have talked. The same few people seemed to be the only ones talking and the presenters didn’t stop them from dominating the conversation. But other than that, we stayed on topic and tried to focus on Story and Stories, but I think we failed to see the big picture. We should try to broaden our horizons for the next fishbowl.
I thought that the fishbowl yesterday was extremely productive (not just because i was in it). I thought that plenty of people from the outer cycle came ino the inner cycle so they could speak nd make their opinion heard. The inner cycle conversation was very strong and we transitioned very smoothly and we covered a lot of material in a short period of little, no pun... ok actually there was a pun intended. Anyway we really hit it home on points about stories connection to our everyday lives and the environments around us everyday.
However i think that the outer cycle got a bit off topic at times and, looking back on the discussion, talked about some things that were very questionable in nature. They here uncalled for and the discussion should not warent this type of discussion.
I think the fishbowl was okay... We touched on some very good points and moved the discussion along very well. However, we never really hit the main point of the chapter or the big picture. We had good points that in a way addressed the big picture, but we never fully talked about it. Other than that, it was one of our better fishbowls in the sense of how we were patient with each other, and how we moved along very smoothly..
I thought the fishbowl went well yesterday. The inner circle had a great discussion and there were some good outer circle discussions too. However on the outer circle discussions some people got way off topic and started debating political views. Over all the fishbowl went well we just need to stay away from politics.
Honestly, I was just a little bit dissapointed with the conversation yesterday. I thought that we were going in loops. We overdiscussed things, telling personal expierience after personal expierience. I think that to benefit my learning, only a couple examples will be needed to fully explain and cover the information. I know that "jobs" such as presenter and discusser arn't that important pertaining to the discussion, but I think that the presenters wern't stepping up to the plate, while some did outstanding, others did not put in any questions at all, which was a little dissapointing. I felt like the conversation was flowing in the wrong direction, we didn't get to the base of the "big picture" of story. I don't want to sound harsh or mean, I think we just need to learn from our mistakes and move on. I hope we have an awesome fishbowl next week with good disscussion all around, on the blog and in the inner circle. The one good thing I have to say is that the people in the outer circle were very good about coming in.
I thought the fishbowl went well yesterday. We got into a lot of interesting topics such as how whales talk and tell stories through their emotions. The fishbowl got into a wide range of ideas and I enjoyed the discussion on how stories make us human. The only bad thing is that the discussion always seemed to circle back to how stories connect us. I wasn't able to read much of the blog.
