Outsourcing and You

What is outsourcing? How does outsourcing effect you? What connections do you see between the article by Daniel Pink, your own interpretations, and A Whole New Mind?

Make sure to react to one another's comments as well as asking in-depth questions of one another.

Outsourcing is when companies send tasks across the world so that they don't have to pay as much for the task to be completed. It affects me because a job I may want to have as a high school student may be taken because I at this point don't have highly in demand skills that I can use all day at a job. I also know that if law really will be outsourced, that could be a problem for me because I want to be a lawyer when I grow up, and that profession could be in jeapordy. Some connections I see are that it does worry me that I may not get a job that I want because I am very left brained and those jobs are becoming less and less in demand, but I do not think that it is a huge problem yet, I think in my lifetime I will be ok, but I could be totally wrong and have to change my whole skillset because I am so left brained.

Outsourcing is when companies send easy, methodical, left brained jobs over seas to save on production costs. This affects me in two ways. First, my dad was laid off because his job was outsourced. And second, I want to be a journalist and the article by Daniel Pink said that even basic journalistic jobs are being outsourced. I can see connections between AWNM, the article, and my own interpretations of them. If a job is not creative or provide some sort of creativity, it will be outsourced. If it does not involve people to people communication, it will be outsourced. If it is too left brained, it will be outsourced.

I learned that outsourcing is when a third party is asked to do work (like people that live in Asia) for cheaper. The main reason that companies do this is because it is much, much cheaper for someone half way across the world to do a job that here in America is thought of as an esteeming type of work and thus paid a much higher of a salary.

The reason that outscoring affects me is that a choice for a job here in American is quickly decreasing because of immense competition from people in other parts of the world and also technology. Although at first it may not seem like it, technology is a third party that is taking jobs and doing it cheaper even though it is not a human. For example, any accountants are losing their jobs due to TurboTax and also people employed in Asia. With these two opponents the once myriad of esteemed jobs that could just be obtained by good grades throughout schooling and hard work have now been stripped away and people that are used to obtaining white collar jobs find themselves jobless. This will my reality as I join the work force.

Connections between A Whole New Mind, the article by Daniel Pink and my own interpretations is that “artistic, empathetic abilities” (Outsourcing) is becoming the most valuable skills that a person hoping to join or sustain their job can possess. As jobs are getting taken by technology and people over seas those looking for work must learn what they can do that technology and someone over seas cannot. That is why we must possess these qualities.

Outsourcing is an economic move made by businesses to try to find people across sees who will do the same jobs that can be done here cheaper. Outsourcing effects me because it effects my generation. By the time I age and graduate from college and am looking for a job, someone across seas may be able to do the same job I can for cheaper. This also effects me because education is changing and being a more "R-Directed" thinker I know I can succeed in another job that someone else can't do. Outsourcing could also effect me because it could leave me jobless. A connection I see between the article and my own interpretation is the mention of the economic downturn. I find it threatening and it makes me want to do more unique and in demand jobs, therefore pushing me away from outsourcing. Daniel Pink basically summarizes the Abundance, Asia, and Automation section from AWNM in his article.

Everyone-Do you believe outsourcing will ever stop? What if "R-Directed" thinking became dominant? Will it ever? Could it ever?

As everyone has said so far, outsourcing is sending "white-collar" jobs across the ocean to be done for cheaper somewhere else, like asia.
Of course, outsourcing affects me, but not in the way most people have said. Yes, I need to develop my right brain to be able to survive...I don't want my ideal future job to be outsourced, but also, it affects me because it reminds me that the world around me is changing and that I shouldn't worry, but rise to the new world. In order to do that, I need a whole new mind set. However, if I am set on being a doctor, and know that that is exactly what I want, I will be a doctor. I will work hard and meet the expectations, and I really do not believe that health care can be outsourced. But most of all, I just need to play it by ear, and do my own personal research to really verify if everything is true, such as machines taking over jobs etc.

The connections I saw were that adapting a new way of thinking is a good thing, it is a change, yes, but as the world is changing, so our minds need to. However, right brain without the left brain is useless, and if you are fully left brained, don't panic! If everyone was right brained, where would the logic and function be? I think that we all need to develop both parts of our brain, because they are both equally important.

Outsourcing is when businesses send jobs overseas so as to cut costs. It affects me because many of the jobs sent around the world are ones that I may want to pursue. But if the jobs are sent away then it takes away my chance at that job. Also, outsourcing can be a pain because when you call a business's 1-800 number, you are usually calling somewhere like India, where, although you both speak English, it is very hard for you to understand each other. Some connections I saw were that it is mainly left-brained jobs that are being outsourced. This does make me a little concerned, but I am a very right-brained person so the kind of jobs I am looking for aren't being sent overseas. On the other hand, since the left-brained jobs are disappearing then there will be more people trying to change and get the right-brained jobs that are still in America. That in turn will make it that much harder for me to get a good right-brained job.

bradyp2012 said...

Outscorcing is when companies give jobs to people over seas because those people do the work for cheaper then people in America. Outscorcing effects me because it means that less and less jobs are available for me to have when i am searching for a job.I can see the connection to A Whole New Mind because it is exactly what Daniel Pink described in his book. I can also see how mainly the "left brained" jobs such as lawyers and computer programers. This means that jobs such as these are going to be more dificult to get a job like these and that I will need to think about what job to pursue and whether or not there is a high chance of that job being outscourced.

Outsourcing is when companies send tasks and jobs overseas (e.g. China) so that they can be completed at a cheaper price. If I want to get an easy left brain job, companies would not accept me, because they can get the same job done at the same quality for less. Therefore, jobs that I could want in the future would be a lot harder to get. I made connections from the book and the article. The book explained the three forces, one of which is Asia. It showed that companies have hired people in Asia to do work at a much lower price than American workers would do it for. In the article, it said that Indian lawyers would work for $75-100, while a normal lawyer would cost $200 at least. Like Kaeli said, a whole profession could be in jeopardy.
I still do not understand if this refers to all jobs, like a doctor or anything in the medical field. Also, doesn't a person in India or China have just enough capability to take a job involving the right brain too? Why is the right brain jobs not in danger of outsourcing?

alisonr2012 said...

Outsourcing is when businesses send jobs overseas so the jobs will be completed at a lower price. The article said that journalistic jobs are being outsourced and I want to be a journalist. I am also very left brained and most left brained jobs are being outsourced. In answer to Carolynf’s question about “R-Directed” thinking becoming dominant I think it could. Jobs that are left brained are being outsourced. Without those jobs “R-Directed” thinking will become dominant because people will be forced to be more creative and less left brained.

Outsourcing is a way that companies save money, by sending jobs over-seas to get the same quality work, only cheaper.
As I learned in Daniel Pinks article, and book, outsourcing effects me very much. Not only are my parent's job at risk of outsourcing, but if I am to follow in their footsteps, it would effect me even more as time goes on. We as this younger generation need to ask ourselves the three questions that Mr. Pink proposes, Can someone overseas do it cheaper, Can a computer do it faster, and is what I want to do in demand during an age of abundance. These three questions can help me, my fellow students, and even our parents stay safe from the dangers of outsourcing. I see both the article and the book to be very true, Outsourcing is shaping the jobs of the future, and thanks to Daniel Pink, I believe that my generation is more equipped to handle this change.

Everyone has said what outsourcing is. And I agree, when your job can be done cheaper over sea's that's were it goes. I'm lucky that what my dad does, can't be done out of this country. I haven't figured out what I want to be when I get older. And knowing this I can choose my profession more carefully. Keeping in mind that people in India can do certain jobs for cheaper.

I was also thinking, if the people in America aren't making as much money because they don't have jobs. Doesn't that hurt those companies? Because they aren't getting that money back?

In Dan Pink's article he very briefly touches on what is essentially the first part of the book. But he focus's on Asia's roll and not on Abundance and Automation. Though each of these traits are equally important, even if it's on different subjects.

Outsourcing is, whrn an originating country of a company takes and transports a job internationally for reasons of finiance. Outsourcing affects my life by striking close to home, my father is an engineer in the position that could eventually be outsourced. In the novel and article it mentions the reasons for outsourcing and ways to prevent it. What careers are around to prevent outsourcing, and are there enough for the job force of the U.S to survive and prosper?

In order to save money, companies use outsourcing to ship a third party overseas to a country that is willing to have its workers perform the same American job at a lower cost.

Outsourcing not only affects me but everyone else. I don’t blame the companies who outsource for wanting to do so. It’s a hot summer day out and your lawn is in need of desperate mowing. The teenager next door will charge $10 to mow your lawn. The teenager in the next neighborhood will charge $5 to mow your lawn. Which one would you hire? I know which one I would. So yes, outsourcing effects all of us but whose fault is it? The smart money saving business individuals or your pay checks demanding high numbers?

One of my favorite areas in A Whole New Mind is the section on Asia. This section reminded me of Mr. Fisch’s You Tube video titled Shift Happens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljbI-363A2Q). It made me realize how I need to improve envision of my future so my future will not be outsourced.

john c said...

All right, so the definition of Outsourcing (from Your Dictionary.com) is " the process through which a company contracts with another company to manage services that it needs but that it doesn't want to provide itself. This means that jobs like programing, ect. are being sent all around the world in order to cut costs and increase profits temporarily.

Outsourcing affects me in that, as I go to choose my future in a few years, my options (even though some jobs outsourced I might not want) are becoming more limited. Also, because I like to write, that the possibility of Journalism jobs being taken hits close to home.

And I'm with Ashley on not blaming companies for outsourcing. If there are equally or more qualified people to do my job out there, I either need to lower my standards of payment or otherwise let the job go. In a Social Darwainistic thought, it is survival of the fittest and those who cannot profit will not survive. This will require a necessary change in effort among new workers from "I can get any job because I'm American" to "I need to be the best I can so that I can EARN that good job." Along these same lines, I think this will cause a change not only towards right brain thinking, but also for those left-brainers who want to keep their same jobs. They will be pushed even harder towards excellence.

(Just for everybody's knowledge, I was pretty much even so I'm gonna have to work extra hard.)
:)

Thanks

John

Outsourcing is where a business has another company run part of its job. It affects me more in the future than right now. Outsourcing is used to help companies lower their costs, therefore products that they create will be cheaper for their consumers, such as me. In simple terms, this article is saying that the easiest work to outsource is left brained work. When I grow up, to be able to keep my job, I will have to steer toward right brained work. I see a lot of connections between the article and the book. AWNM- why right-brainers will rule the future, is trying to tell its readers that the world is changing and in order to keep up; the way we use our brains will also have to change. At first I didn’t understand how right- brainers will rule the future. The way that school systems and jobs are set up would corrupt right-brainers. But as I read farther, I noticed that SAT might incorporate different questions to test more of the right brain and I read an article about EQ (emotional quotient) and how it may run along side IQ. Reading AWNM and hearing about all these changes makes me wonder if Daniel Pink is really holding the answer to our new “age”, as he puts it.

katieh2012 said...

Outsourcing is the "transplanting" of jobs to other countries where work can be completed with fewer or lower expenses. It has become especially prevalent in our modern society with the invention and progression of technologies such as the internet, which allows information to be sent around the world in a matter of seconds, rather than taking the months needed previously. Daniel Pink focuses mainly on the outsourcing of left-brained jobs (computer programming, coding, etc.), but outsourcing has been occurring long before the internet. If you look at the label in the shirt you’re wearing right now, chances are it says something along the lines of “Made in China” or “Made in Taiwan.” This shows that outsourcing has been occurring, and will continue occurring for a long time. It has simply grown more advanced along with our societies and world.

This practice affects me in a number of ways. Not only will it affect my future- our society, my job options- but it also affects my life today. Because of the changes to come, I have to start preparing now. Different approaches are being taken to education and preparation for the workforce in order to produce successful individuals. This does not mean that strictly right brainers are being produced, but rather individuals who can separate themselves and pull away from the pack.

Through AWNM and my own interpretations, I have come to realize that Daniel Pink is not advocating a right brained approach but a WHOLE MINDED approach (hence the title). Our generation has to learn to bridge that gap and become well rounded, whole minded individuals.

Carolyn- I think that right minds may not ever be totally dominant, but will at least establish themselves as equals or partners in the work force and world. If we became strongly right brained, we would lose touch with the logical and analytical abilities of the left brain which seem to me to be important parts of business.

Outsourcing is when corporations, big or small, give the same tasks or jobs to other people in other countries with the same talent that will work for less.
I believe that outsourcing effects and will effect my parents generation, my generation as well as the generation after me because in this point in time, and because of our economy, major corporations are looking for any way to save money and keep from going bankrupt. Unless somehow the government tries to intervene even more than it is right now, with all of the buyouts and "loans", outsourcing will continue to happen and gradually become worse over time. This means that I will have to work harder to learn the same skills to get the same job as someone else in the world with an outsourced job. Along with Bayley, I too am undecided about a career or study I would care to explore, I will certainly take into consideration of outsourcing jobs and finding a career that both fits my interests as well as is unique enough that not every Joe Shmoe can do the same thing.
In the article by Daniel Pink, my interpretations as well as A Whole New Mind is that outsourcing, as well as technology will only become greater in the years to come, so in order to beat the outsourcing problem, we must work to understand how to rise above the technology and outsourcing to still obatin a job in the future.

katiez2012 said...

I think outsourcing obviously can have many definitions. But basically it refers to when a company sends things to do or tasks to people in a different location or across the world. They do this because those people (such as those in Asia) will do these jobs for less pay. I think that this could effect anyone even if they are left brained or right. It could eventually effect me because if there is a job that I want, it could be sent overseas because someone would take it for a lower salary. This is kind of intimidating and it does make me want to have a more creative job that I could do in my own way. I agree with most people's opinions on this blog but I do think that if people took the standard jobs that anyone can do well if they try, then we should try and change those jobs to be more personalized and creative.

Outsourcing is the shipping of formally western jobs to developing nations like India. It usually occurs because workers of developing nations are paid less money than their western counterparts even though they usually, are at the same levels of skill.

Outsourcing affects all young people in the U.S. and therefore it obviously affects me. However, because I am not sure of what career path I would like to take I can not exactly determine how it will affect me.

As far as connections go the article and A Whole New Mind both talk extensively about how companies pay less to their workers in India as compared to the United States. I however, did not make a connection with my own interpretations.

Maxe2012 said...

Outsourcing is when companies give jobs to other people in other countries so that the job can be done cheaper and the company can make more money.

It doesn't really effect me directly right now because jobs that a high schooler would get like working at Taco Bell or being a lifeguard can't really be outsourced but it effects the economy and therefore me. It could also effect me in the future since I will probably be best fit in a math job which are becoming harder to find in the U.S.

It connects to Daniel Pink because he says that outsourcing is part of the reason that right brained people will rule the future.

alexandriab2012 said...

Outsourcing is when a company hires people for jobs in other countries because the cost of their labor is cheaper. This affects me because a job I might want in the future could be given to someone in a different country because the cost of their labor is cheaper and I do not get the job, or I get the job but have to accept a much lower wage in order to compete with cheaper outsourced labor. The only way to keep such a job or to earn it (as Mr. Pinks said) is to be more skilled in that line of work, that computers can’t do the job better or cheaper than a human, and to have people skills which computers don’t have. This isn’t just happening in the future, it’s happening as we speak. For example, lawyers are losing there jobs because of online law practices like CompleteCase.com and USLegalforms.com which are both cheaper than human lawyers. This also affects me because my Dad is a lawyer and an Assistant Attorney General for the state of Colorado and works with the OCC and the PUC. Since he works for that state and practices law in a pretty specialized legal area, he might not be affected, however, some of his friends might be. Today’s world is run by what is the cheapest way to do something, sometimes it works and looks cool (learn more about this later), but sometimes it’s just a scam or doesn’t work out at all. Outsourcing was created to do the same work but at a cheaper cost, but it costs Americans jobs and often creates inferior products or services. The money and wages that Americans were making for U.S. companies are now helping the economies of other countries, rather than helping the American economy.

sammiet2012 said...

Outsourcing is when a job is sent to be done somewhere outside the country for less money then it would cost if it was done inside the country. I am a Left Brainer so in my case this means that I am going to have to start sharpening my Right Brain senses more to prepare for a future that will be influenced by Right Brainers according to Daniel Pink, author of A Whole New Mind.

jays2012 said...

Outsourcing is when the big people in the corporations try to earn the top amount they can by hiring and paying for lower pay for the same tasks. This works very effectively in Asia because the people over there are more desperate for money. This effects me because that means the jobs in America are given to people living across the seas cutting from the employment in America which could lead to Economic downpour like it is now. Daniel Pink is trying to show us that we cannot be left brainers anymore and we have to fight for the jobs and make it so the people in the flat world don't get our jobs they strive for.

stellab2012 said...

Outsourcing is a business technique used to cut costs and bring in more money for a company. Often, a third party is brought in to do the job. This party is often heard about in Asia. This is done because it costs much less to pay employees in such areas than in the US.
This technique could greatly affect the futures of children in this generation and the next due to competition, allowing little room for choice when it comes to work and finding a job. Many interested in law and technology, especially, may struggle because so many jobs are being outsourced to Asia, Russia, etc where many other intelligent people interested and have experience with such areas of work and business and are paid much less by the hour, allowing companies to bring in and save more money. More competition, less choice; less choice, more danger for children of this generation and the next. That’s where Daniel Pink’s A Whole New Mind comes in.
In his writing, Pink explains how the jobs such as law and technology are more L-Directed areas of work. Writing, painting, and architecture, though, are more R-Directed. So, the more popular outsourcing becomes, the more people might consider other jobs that are more R-Directed which don’t require outsourcing. Therefore, right-brainers will rule the future.

mariep2012 said...

Outsourcing is when jobs and tasks are taken over by other people who can do it cheaper and faster. Pink says that many of the jobs are being taken over by places such as Asia. Since these countries can do many of the jobs really well and cheaply, the jobs in America are decreasing. Pink seems to say that all left brain jobs are going to be gone, but I think that all we need to do is redefine them. For example, the people who want to be lawyers and doctors need to find a way to do their left brained job with a right brained twist.

kailynw2012 said...

According to Dictionary.com outsourcing means...
To send out (work, for example) to an outside provider or manufacturer in order to cut costs.

To me this means that jobs that can be done elsewhere are being done elsewhere, because people in other places are cheaper then a person doing the same job in the United States.

Outsourcing, will effect my future career and life, and since in a few years college entrance exams, colleges and what I major in will be on my mind it effects me.

It is happening, the smaller the world gets the more prominent outsourcing does. Pink tells us that one of the reasons for future right brain success is outsourcing, but I believe that it is just finding more interactive jobs, jobs done by people for people. To me, that doesn't seem like it has to be right brained people.

kelseyc2012 said...

outsourcing is a good thing. It provides a better life style for those in need. It also pushes us here in America to try to have a higher edjucation and more inovative thinking because those simple jobs are not available. Those jobs do not tend to offer fullfillment and since they are not especially available in America it almost forces us to look for other jobs that will actually increase our happiness and fulfillment of life.

leahf2012 said...

Outsourcing is, by definition, “subcontracting a process, such as product design or manufacturing, to a third-party company”. This means jobs such as computer programming and various other occupations that have the ability to be done overseas in countries such as India or China. From my understanding, outsourcing only affects occupations that can be done on computers or a world-wide database. In this case location doesn’t matter. If a company has the ability to pay much lower salaries for the same job to be done overseas, more often than not, the company will explore that option.
In my case, I don’t really think out sourcing will affect the area of study I plan to navigate. The medical profession is a very hands on field and the U.S.’s medical care is unwavering compared to third world-countries. I spoke to my neighbor, an anesthesiologist, and an education from an American medical school cannot be compared to any other country’s education regarding this area of study. The only specialization in the medical field in danger of outsourcing would be radiology, as this can be done over the computer.
Daniel Pink makes a very good argument in his article, however I am hesitant to believe that outsourcing affects every occupation in the U.S. I don’t think that worrying about the situation does any good. If we want to be immune to outsourcing, it is in our power.

AustinW2012 said...

I think outsourcing will only cause our nation to get better. If we have to compete for jobs with more people then we will have to make ourselves better at the job. If you are better and offer your services at a similar price then you will always be chosen. It will only make our students here in america better because we are used to just slacking off and still being the best. Now we actually have to earn our titles and fight our way to the top. People will whine about others taking their jobs but the truth is the people in Asia deserve the job more because they dedicate 24/7 of their lives to learning just to have a shot against us. If we put in that much time I'm sure we could be just as good if not better. It's all in our heads because we are used to having time for school and then the rest we do whatever we want but you have to find a balance that will get you where you want to go and still allow you to have fun. It's not only left brained jobs that can be outsourced as well. When it comes down to it, are is art and movies are movies. No matter who makes them it depends on how good they are. If our right brained jobs can not preform at a level that Asia's can then they will get the jobs. Also people in our society must accept that they may not get the wages that they once did because unless they keep their prices compettitive they won't have a chance. In the end I think everyone is in danger and to avoid it you just must become better at what you do than everyone else.

Outsourcing is when companys send their jobs overseas to cut the price of employment. It could also mean that many people bring up good qualities and ideas and they are chosen over you. This would affect me in the future when I'm trying to establish a succesfull career, I would have to bring more to the table. I'm luckyt that I have the knowledge I do know so I can take it and use it beneficially in the future.I felt that Daniel Pink broadened my idea of this subject and opened my mind to the things that were going on that I had no idea.

Outsourcing is when a company sends left-brained tasks overseas to people like in Asia as a form of cheaper labor. It affects me because when I get a job, I will have to rely on a person who lives on the other side of the world to ask for help. Also, it would be hard to get a job in the first place because these people who live overseas will take them because they are a lot less cheap in the form of paying them money. This concept of outsourcing is also vividly explained in A Whole New Mind in that people who live in Asia are taking over our jobs in the United States. I think that outsourcing occur a lot in the near future because even in the present time today, many American businesses rely on the people who lived in Asia.

ericak2012 said...

Sorry this is posted late Smith, the internet just now came back up.

Ousourcing is when jobs are eaten up by either someone in another country being able to do the same job cheaper or technology can do it faster. This effects us because we are part of the upcoming generation and we will eventually need to get jobs. There may not be any jobs left. This relates to what's talked about in the book because we need to start not only having more creative jobs but being more creative about the jobs we could have.

robertc2012 said...

I'm behind. Sorry.
Anyway, I think that outsourcing will require us to continue to be one step ahead of the rest of the world. America has been pretty good at that in the past, such as with the "Space Race" to the moon. So we need to continue to be one step ahead in the business world. That one step could be being creative. That one step could be the "six senses". That one step could be reading "AWNM", if you think about it! There are lots of "one steps" that we can take, and we have to constantly be watching out for new steps to take.

chelseac2012 said...

Oops! I'm way behind, sorry!

Outsourcing occurs when companies in one country send tasks to be done elsewhere because they may be able to do it cheaper and/or faster.
Outsourcing effects me because I am one of many, many students learning to develop our minds for jobs that have not yet been invented. Other jobs, today, may be outsourced so us students have to prepare for the new future. Daniel Pink talks about being more creative, having more of "rightbrain" thinking, and how these jobs will be harder to outsource because everyone's creativity differs.

bridgetL said...

Oops. I'm a bit behind also. But outsourcing is when companies send jobs to other countries. They often do this because people in other countries can do the same jobs for less money. Another reason that they do this though, that people do not mention as much is that there are lots of regulations on U.S. businesses, so if they send their work overseas, they can cut cost in that area also.
While my dad has not been laid off due to outsourcing, and never will be because he is self employed, I have seen many neighbors and friend's dads who have lost their jobs because of outsourcing. Also, depending upon what career I go into as an adult, there is a growing danger that I could lose my job due to cheaper overseas labor. The closest way outsourcing connects to me though, is in the price of the things I buy. Both me and my parents try to purchase American made products as much as possible to support those companies that are keeping American jbos in the U.S. However, there is no doubt that most of the time the american made product is significantly more expensive than the one made overseas.
The concept of outsourcing is a big part of "A Whole New Mind" by Daniel Pink and a big part of my interpretation. The biggest message I have gotten from the book so far has been that the only way to keep your job and stop outsourcing is to do a job that nobody else can do. It is easy enough to mimick math functions and scientific principals, even in Asia. However, nobody can mimick your ideas. Which is why you must make a career out of those creative ideas that are your own and only your own. Nobody in Asia can think the same thoughts as you can.
Outsourcing will never stop. People will continue to find new ways to send jobs overseas, so we too must adapt to the changes by changing the way we work and think. We can no longer work in a linear career that uses rules and codes, we must think outside the box, the way nobody else can.

connorm said...

Outsourcing deals with the idea that left brain jobs are being placed in the hands of people that do the job for less money than say us Americans. These new workers take our jobs for less money and force us to change our lifestyle to right brain jobs. I was also thinking of an idea though. Could outsourcing be in a way like the fox and rabbit population idea. All the jobs go overseas and we become poorer while people from other countries such as India become wealthier and begin to demand more pay. While at the same time capable Americans are becoming poorer therefore willing to be paid less until the two switch places and we begin getting our outsourced jobs back and the cycle then takes place once again.

Outsourcing will affect me because i am a left brain person and because i enjoy those kinds of jobs as apposed to art.

I think the connection i would like to bring up is how could a school be outsourced. With the internet having access to every kind of information you might need at a time why have schools then just use you fingers and type in a word and there the answer is in thousands of different ways.

Brianc2012 said...

I'm behind, but I still wanted to post. I think that outsourcing is best described as when companies send work over to other countries so that they don't have to pay as much. I think that outsourcing could effect us by making it harder for future generations to find jobs because they will be somewhere over seas. Right brained jobs will start to open up though, so we have to become more adapt with right brained thinking as well as left. In AWNM Daniel Pink says that not all jobs can be outsourced. If you are in a career that could you have to think about if other people could do it cheaper.
